Joao Oliveira Oliveira de Sao Domingos, Cape Verde
I just took this out from the library. I can't wait to start it.
Rather enjoyable book, and rather short as I finished it in a day. The disappointment Couldn't help feeling a tinge of disappointment while reading through, perhaps this is because I knew the general story from watching the movie. While I had no expectations for the movie and was quite impressed, I had high expectations for the book and was left slightly underwhelmed. I kept waiting for some characters to fill out a more prominent role, the ghost lords of Stormhold felt underused and the final confrontation between the witch queen and Septimus seemed like an anti-climax. That said, the "faitytale" is very original. The surprise Described as a fairytale for adults, the book did read very typically fairytale-ish, that is, until you quite jarringly happen upon a more graphic scene. The first took me by surprise and felt out of place, though there aren't many. The Aftertaste I focused on the bad but I'm happy to have bought the book and I do love the journey of Tristan from the boy to the man. Looking forward to what else Gaiman has to offer.
